Hey Antone,

I happen to think the name is really great!! But, as you can see by my screen name I like names that are kind of way out there! Not that your products names are 'way out there'.

You are right. You will get those that aren't happy that you've changed it (as noted in some of the comments above). But, they will calm down, soon enough, and you will have a very descriptive name for your great product. I really do like the new name, a lot!

Too bad I didn't come up with it myself. But, lucky for me you are a very generous guy!

Thanks a lot for the free gifts - the same prize as the mysterious first place winner, is really cool and totally unexpected! I'll be in touch once I decide which ones I'd like.

I'm really glad that my modest suggestion for you to hold a contest was so helpful to you!!

Congrats on the new name!

Antone You would be crazy to drop a brand name so well established. (If you do then please give it to me. I will heaps of stuff with such a well known internet term)
I think your customer above has the best suggestion "Carp Content Pipeline", the Web bit doesnt add anything.
If you really need a reason to keep carp then its: CARP (Content And Rss Pipeline)

Sky beat me to it...
Seems we are moving from CaRP (which my dyslexia always caused me to see as CRaP)...
To WC (UK toilet) P (pee)..
So that maintains the toilet-based (should I say rest-room-based) connotations for me!...
(Not to mention pipes!)
But then that's just how my sad brain works ;)
...Just sorry I missed a chance to submit my ideas:
"Super Hot Internet Timesaver"
or
"Putting Online Output Properly On Our Sites" (though maybe that's a bit long of a name?)
lol

Yeah, the name is quite descriptive, but by the time I had scrolled to the bottom of the page I had forgotten it! Branding is going to suffer.

In addition to your products, I use Yahoo Pipes, and you might consider focusing on the "Pipeline" part of the name. Also, remember what "WC" means in Britain. What will Brits think of "WC Pipeline" as a name? ;-)

Personally, I like the name CaRP but it's probably because I've spent the last few years using it.

I agree with Sam's comment that Web Content Pipeline is somewhat forgettable though.

Why not call it the CaRP Web Content Pipeline? That way, you still keep the brand that many of us have grown to know and you can still use the Web Content Pipeline analogy in all the sale material?

Just a thought.

I agree with Sam - you want something people will remember. I've remembered and gone back to CaRP for years. I would not change it at all.

Carp s great, new name is quite forgetable. No offense to the winner - it is a great descriptive label for selling Carp, but as a brand name it just makes my shoulders shrug.

It is not too late to change your mind and go with the BRAND NAME you have created and that reeled me in.

Sounds like a great name to me. I've always found it odd that the name of this product is also the name of a fish, a bottom-feeder at that. Always seemed like a bad association. So this is definitely an improvement.

Hey you are receiving emails, but no comment responses here?!?
Considering you already a have a number of pages with great PR and a following already for Geck CaRP, why change?
Either which way, I still love the product! Now let's see if we can get some feedback on this post
