25 Examples of Using an RSS Feed Parser
Posted by Antone Roundy under CaRP , Case Studies10 Comments
Especially now that I’m giving CaRP Evolution away for free, I thought it might be useful to make a video to help people get a better idea of what you can do with an RSS parser.
For years, CaRP has been my “secret weapon” for easily inter-linking my websites together and reusing my own content, as well as pulling in content from other websites.
In this video, you’ll see a bunch of examples of how I’m using it. Hopefully they’ll spark some ideas for how you could spruce up your own websites.

Thanks — glad someone’s getting something out of them.
Now that I’ve figured out that I can edit them a LOT faster outside of the buggy Camtasia version I have (it always seems to mess up the audio if I cut parts out), they’re fast enough to make that I’ll probably do a lot more.

Cool, I would love to see some vids on how you use Grouper as well, if you have any planed for the future, that would be pretty Darn nice.
BTW.
Apart from the fact that you built Carp and know it like the back of your hand, Is there any benefit for using carp inside of WordPress for pulling internal category feeds rather than a plugin like the query posts for example.

Very pithy video. I am impressed that you got 25 examples in under 5 minutes. Most of the time people have very little of value to say in the first five minutes of any video they record. Way to go, Antone.

I am very very impressed by the power of your carp system and am planning to start using it myself on a major project within the next couple of days
Keep up the good work!

Hi Antone,
I just wanted say thanks for the video. Very helpful indeed.
I am rediscovering Carp Evolution on a new web project. I last used Carp back in 2006 on an old site I had.. It’s a steep learning curve but worth the effort. There is nothing comes close to this script in it’s class.
Thanks once again!
Best regards,
Paul.

Antone, your video is a little like trying to take a sip from a fire hose. That, of course, is a good thing. Most such endeavors are the opposite, like trying to extract blood from a turnip. Please keep up the great work!

Antone,
I must say I am very excited about using this tool. I am truly looking forward to utilizing this to bring all my content and articles into a sorted readable format. Thank you for your help on the install, no way I get that done by myself. This as an industrial strength secret weapon that I am excited to put through its paces.
